Automotive Service Technician
Kicking Horse Ford (2021) Ltd. is seeking qualified Journeyman Automotive Service Technicians to join their busy dealership in Golden, British Columbia. The successful candidates will work with us on a permanent, full-time basis.
Location of Work: 605 9th Avenue North, Golden, BC., V0A 1H0
Number of Positions Available: 2
Wages: Starting wages will range from $32.00 per hour and higher, depending on experience. Ford experience would be considered an asset.
Credentials: Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification required; preference will be given to individuals who have also achieved 'Senior Ford Certified Technician' status.
- Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications
- Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
- Communicate with Service Advisors and customers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements
- Review work orders and discuss work with the service advisor to determine and/or recommend additional work where required
- Communicate with parts department to order required parts
- Complete reports to record problems and work
- Coach and instruct apprentices as assigned
- Stay current with manufacturer technical bulletins and required OEM training
Skill Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of experience working as a certified Automotive Service Technician
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills in order to effectively communicate automotive issues clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Superior analysis and problem solving abilities; with extensive knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to explain systems and repairs to others
- Strong attention to detail to ensure the vehicle repair is completed correctly the first time and to accurately document the story and work performed on the repair order
- Ability to work independently to effectively manage time and work flow
- Strong teamwork skills to work effectively with other technicians and staff
- Ability to perform heavy work including frequent lifting of more than 50 lbs
- Must be able to speak fluent English
Other Requirements:
- Be able to provide own tools
- A valid Provincial or International Driver's License
